Mother of Pearl is the strong iridescent layer of nacre that the mollusk lays down to keep the inner area of the shell where he lives as smooth as possible. Nacre is also what pearls are made up of except with a pearl the nacre is in much thicker layers than the mother of Pearl but it is the same substance.
Mother of Pearl can be white or a beige color. I use both colors. Mother of Pearl symbolizes protection, soothing, wisdom, prosperity and intuition.
