Swirl Shells come out of the Pacific Ocean from the Turban snail. They are called either the Shiva’s Eye or the Pacific Cats Eye or in this case the swirl shell as it’s self explanatory and I don’t have to digress into multiple descriptions till they realize what I mean.

Abalone necklace – rectangle
Abalone is harvested and eaten in many cultures. The swirling color of abalone comes from the inner shell of a sea snail. This snail makes a nacre adding aragonite platelets to it in layers making it harder and more colorful than other types of Mother of Pearl. Ammonites are fossils of cephalopods that died out with the dinosaurs. Ammonites were the most prominent during the Cretaceous and Jurassic eras disappearing 66 million years ago. They are related to modern squid and nautilus.
This Ammonite fossil is a slice in half showing the inside crystalization.
